Archive Pages
HoverCraft uses WordPress's normal archive system for category, tag, date, author, and other standard archive views. Rather than replacing those pages with a separate listing system, the theme keeps them consistent with the rest of the site.
Archive layout
Normal archive pages include HoverCraft breadcrumbs followed by the archive title. Common WordPress title prefixes such as Category: are removed, so the heading displays the useful archive name without unnecessary labels.
Category archives can also display the category description when one has been added in WordPress.
Each archive entry can include its featured image, linked post title, byline, and excerpt. HoverCraft uses a larger featured-image treatment when the main content area is wide and the standard archive image treatment in narrower layouts. The archive byline follows the theme's normal date settings, including published dates, updated dates, or both.
Pagination and sidebars
When an archive contains more posts than fit on one page, HoverCraft adds numbered pagination. The navigation includes previous and next links when available, nearby page numbers, and first or last page links for longer archives. Pagination is omitted when the archive has only one page of results.
Archive pages also follow HoverCraft's normal sidebar settings. A sidebar appears when the global sidebar configuration allows it. When the sidebar is disabled, or configured for posts only, archive pages remain single-column and use the theme's configured main content width.
Special category layouts
Most WordPress categories use the normal archive presentation described above. Categories assigned to HoverCraft's FAQ or Portal roles are exceptions and use their dedicated templates instead.
The FAQ layout is designed for compact question-and-answer or snippet-style content, while the Portal layout provides a wider support-style listing with category-focused search. These roles are configured through Category Layouts.
